Jo Celer

After several years as a Customer Service/Project Manager I decided to give up the corporate world, move to Egypt and pursue my ambition to become a Scuba Dive Instructor. I ‘lived the dream’ in The Red Sea and Madagascar, as well as the not so exotic Stoney Cove, in England. My varied career also includes a stint as cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic, travelling to some great destinations worldwide, with scuba gear in tow, whenever possible.

Once ensconced back in the UK, I wanted to pursue a sports-related and active career and decided on Sports Massage as a great first step. I qualified from Loughborough College in 2011 as a VTCT Level 3 Sports Massage Practitioner. Since that time, I’ve been very fortunate to work alongside the physiotherapists at two of Leicestershire’s best sports medicine clinics and have been able to set up my own business, JC Sports Massage.

I’ve worked with athletes from a multitude of sports – triathlon; cycling; swimming; running; rowing; cricket; football; rugby; martial arts; athletics; tennis, from amateur to Team GB and elite level. An important and probably the most enjoyable part of my working life, is the buzz of working ‘in the field’ at events, offering pre and post race sports massage to the competitors. You’ll regularly see me at races, with the emphasis on Triathlon, Duathlon and Cycling. I love my work and my life and get a huge amount of satisfaction from being part of The Team, doing my part to help athletes to stay fit and healthy through to their big race and beyond.

I’m a very keen, rather than very gifted, triathlete, a member of The Leicester Triathlon Club and have raced in sprint and Olympic distance triathlons both at home and abroad. I have also dabbled with the odd sportive, mainly because I’ve found cyclists can always justify a good cake stop.
